Dump firm offers villagers truce
Villagers have won a promise from a landfill firm not to dump toxic waste until a planning appeal in 2005.

In May the Warboys site at Huntingdon, Cambs, was refused planning permission which would have allowed its owners to continue accepting hazardous material.

The company is appealing against the decision made in May.

On Friday it said as a goodwill gesture it would suspend all disposal of hazardous waste until the outcome of the appeal.

The company still has planning permission for the deposit of non-hazardous waste.
