Port scheme hopes to attract £50m
A successful bid for £10m of public money promises to kick start a huge development on Wisbech port land which has lain redundant for over 20 years.

Centrepiece of the new Nene Riverside project will be 400 new homes, and main backer Fenland District Council hopes to attract more developers.

English Partnerships, Cambridgeshire County Council and European Commission have already committed investment cash.

This consortium now aims to bring in up to £50m from other private sources.

Private investors are now expected to support the scheme which will see new business units, restaurants and leisure facilities built on the derelict land near Wisbech town centre.
