Pattaya
Andrew Palmer was shot dead in Pattaya
Detectives from Cambridgeshire have travelled to Thailand to gather evidence on the murder of a Peterborough businessman seven years ago.

Two officers from Peterborough are working on tying up final details on the murder of Andrew Palmer who was shot dead in the resort of Pattaya.

The detectives are gathering evidence so an inquest into Mr Palmer's death can finally be completed.

Mr Palmer, who was 35, had worked in Thailand for a number of years when he was found dead with gunshot wounds at his Pattaya flat.

Parents distressed

The inquest was opened in Peterborough after his murder in May 1996 but no death certificate was ever issued.

Special permission had to be granted for his body to be flown home. He was buried at Werrington Church near Peterborough.

Mr Palmer's killer has never been caught, leaving his parents Don and Peg Palmer distressed about the way the investigation was handled by the Thai police.

The Peterborough detectives are now hoping to gather evidence in Thailand so the coroner can finally complete the inquest.
