Bristol copper thieves 'putting themselves at risk'

Thieves have stolen copper piping from several electricity sub-stations in Bristol after pulling out connections carrying up to 11,000 volts.

Police said the thieves were putting themselves at risk and could send extra voltage into nearby homes damaging electrical equipment.

The offences have taken place in areas such as Henbury Road and Sea Mills.

Det Con Matt Stanford from Southmead CID, said homeowners should report anything suspicious.
