Chris Vacher looks back on the life of Fred Wedlock

The Bristol-based folk singer Fred Wedlock has died, his family have confirmed.

Mr Wedlock gained notoriety in 1981 with his single The Oldest Swinger in Town when it reached number six in the charts.

The 67-year-old had been been suffering from pneumonia and a family spokesman said he died on Thursday following a heart attack.

His website said he had a deep love of the West Country, especially Bristol.
