Award for entrepreneurial student

Luc Bugeja
Mr Bugeja says he plans to take on another member of staff

A third-year medical student has beaten off competition to win a £6,000 scholarship to support his business.

Luc Bugeja received the cash which can be used for development training, a wage outside term time, a year's workspace, and business support.

Mr Bugeja's business pays medical students to put up posters in hospitals on behalf of medical trade organisations and other firms.

He said the award would help him get new contacts and seek new ventures.

"I'm going to use the cash to invest in the company infrastructure, employ another members of staff and continue my personal business development," he added.

The award comes from Research and Enterprise Development, and the cash was provided by former student David Milne, the founder of Wolfson Microelectronics.

It aims to support the next generation of student entrepreneurs.
