Trapped man is rescued from mud

A man in his 30s had to be rescued from a muddy river bank in Bristol after becoming stuck.

Fire crews were called to Coronation Road in the Southville area of the city after the man was spotted late on Saturday night.

An Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said crews had to use ropes and lines in the rescue.

"Firefighters managed to navigate the steep banks and rescue the casualty from the mud," she added.

The victim was taken to hospital as a precaution.

It is not known how the man became stuck or what he was doing at the time.
