Drugs crackdown police arrest 69

Sixty-nine people were arrested and drugs with a street value of £158,000 were seized during Avon and Somerset Police's Tackling Drugs Week.

The week of activity in June to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs was part of a national campaign.

Fifteen cannabis factories were found and weapons including a crossbow and a Samuri-style sword were seized.

Of the 69 people arrested 31 people were subsequently charged - 19 for offences involving Class A drugs.

Assistant Chief Constable Jackie Roberts said: "Everyday we are busy conducting operations to disrupt and destroy the supply of drugs throughout Avon and Somerset.

"National Tackling Drugs Week gives us a chance to highlight just some of this work and the results we are achieving."
