The driver escaped with minor injuries

A two-tonne car crashed down a 18m (59ft) drop and into a house on the day the residents moved in. Vicky Avery, 23, opened the patio door at her home in Brislington, Bristol, to see a BMW careering down the back garden towards the property. The car, which had crashed through a wall, came to rest, nose first, in a brick shed next to the house. Police said the female driver escaped with minor injuries in the crash on Wednesday morning. 'Lucky incident' Ms Avery, a nurse, had moved in hours earlier with partner Aaron Spells, 24, who is a firefighter. She said: "I heard a crash and that was it - I saw a car bouncing down our garden. "I started screaming and ran out the room. When I came back there was a BMW in front of our shed. "I don't think I'll be sunbathing in the garden any time soon." The driver, understood to be a nearby resident, was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for a check-up. Ms Avery added: "It was a lucky incident, really. I think in time she [the driver] will realise she was lucky as well. Although she probably doesn't realise it at the moment."
