Son charged over mother's death

The body of Sheila Iles was found at her home near Bristol

A son has been charged with the murder of his mother at her home in the Staple Hill area, near Bristol.

Gary Iles, 42, appeared before North Avon magistrates accused of the murder of Sheila Iles, 78.

Officers found Mrs Iles' body after smashing open the door to her home in Seymour Road, South Gloucestershire, at about 0815 BST on Wednesday.

Mr Iles was arrested shortly afterwards, and remained in custody while investigations continued.

He was committed to appear before Bristol Crown Court on 17 July.
