Boy hurt in hit-and-run accident

A 15-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in central Bristol.

The teenager was walking along Penn Street at 1900 BST on Tuesday when he was struck. Witnesses at the scene said the car did not stop.

He is being treated at Frenchay Hospital for what are said to be life-threatening head injuries.

A police spokesperson said they were looking for a black Mercedes C180, registration LR52 JZV.

The car has a damaged windscreen.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
