Services to and from Bristol will be affected

Bus commuters in South Gloucestershire will face changes and cuts to services from May this year.

First Bristol has announced changes to two services for Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

From 10 May, Service X27 between Yate and Bristol will be cancelled and Service X42 from Chipping Sodbury to Bristol will run at peak times only.

Justin Davies, from First Bristol, said the economic climate has affected bus networks.

Bus company First has announced plans to cut non-profitable routes

First Bristol said service 342 will still run from Chipping Sodbury.

Councillor Ian Blair, from South Gloucestershire Council, said the bus company was using the recession as an excuse to make cuts to services.

"This time they haven't even tried to consult bus users, they have just told us out of the blue that these cuts are happening whether we like it or not."
