Tutor admits child porn charges

A former professor at the University of the West of England (UWE) has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.

Robert Grimshaw, 57, pleaded guilty to 16 specimen charges including the possession, making, and distribution of indecent images of children.

Grimshaw of Stratton St Margaret near Swindon, Wiltshire, was arrested in December 2007 and his computer seized.

Remanding him on bail Judge Cutler told him: "You are facing a significant custodial sentence."

Salisbury Crown Court was told when Grimshaw's computer was examined it was found to contain the images.

When he arrived at the city's police station last October he told officers he had changed his name by deed poll to Joseph Robert Mills.

Grimshaw resigned from his position at the UWE department of building environment in 2008.
