Merged 'all through' school opens

Bridge Learning Campus
The Bridge Learning Campus caters for pupils from three to 19

The doors have opened to a new "all through" school in Bristol, catering for pupils aged from three to 19.

The £36m Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe brings together a nursery, a primary and secondary school, a special school and student support centre.

It was formed from the amalgamation of four local schools and colleges and is run by a trust.

Education leaders described it as a "major milestone in the transformation of education in south Bristol".

The new campus will have direct access to learning and teaching expertise at City of Bristol College, the University of the West of England and Bristol City Council.

Councillor Peter Hammond said: "The Bridge will be cutting-edge in so many ways - the first all-through school catering for children, young people and adults in Bristol and the first school in the country of this kind to also be run by a trust.

"It puts Bristol firmly in the spotlight for educational innovation and will bring quality learning for future Hartcliffe generations."
