Hospital wards hit by norovirus

Two wards at Weston General Hospital have been closed after an outbreak of norovirus, the highly-infectious diarrhoea and vomiting illness.

Hutton and Draycott wards at the North Somerset hospital are currently not admitting new patients or transferring existing patients to different wards.

A spokeswoman said: "Visitors should not enter the hospital if they are experiencing symptoms of diarrhoea."

Norovirus is a community virus which spreads rapidly from person to person.
