Protesters gathered in Bristol in one of a series of demonstrations being held across the UK in opposition to Israeli air strikes on Gaza.

The rally, by Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Bristol Stop The War Coalition, was held outside the city's Hippodrome on Saturday.

Israel has carried out more than 700 strikes on Gaza in the last week, AFP news agency said.

The UN has warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Protests have already taken place earlier in the week outside the Israeli Embassy in Kensington, west London.

In addition to Bristol's demonstration, others were due to be held at 18 locations, including Portsmouth, Manchester, Hull, London and Glasgow.
