Daffodils blooming in bitter cold

Early daffodils
Daffodils are still in bloom despite heavy frosts

Daffodils have sprung early in South Gloucestershire despite freezing winter temperatures.

The daffodils have bloomed earlier than expected for Thornbury resident Alvin Allsopp in his South Gloucestershire garden.

Mr Allsopp said the daffodils had been out since the end of November and he has "never known anything like it".

"The heavy frost which I thought might have killed them off hasn't touched them at all," he added.
