More than 110 drivers in the Avon and Somerset police force area have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving since 1 December.
Police have been carrying-out roadside checks in areas known to be drink-drive hotspots.
Supt Andy Pullan said although the drink-drive message applied 365 days a year a focussed campaign was operating through out December and the New Year.
"There is no failsafe guide to how much you can drink before driving," he said.
Motorists stopped have also been given leaflets on how they can reduce the risk of being a victim of car crime.
The 111 arrested drivers had provided a positive breath specimen, failed or refused to provide a specimen or had been driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
