The Princess Royal is visiting a new £75m custom-built engine facility at Rolls Royce in Bristol.

The plant, for the Defence Aerospace arm of the company, is part of a redevelopment programme to attract work outside of its traditional business.

The firm has been in the city for more than 40 years, assembling and shipping aerospace engines.

Weather permitting, the princess will witness a flypast by a Spitfire and the new Eurofighter Typhoon.

Barry Hayes, head of operations for Defence Aerospace, said: "The significance of this building is that this is a foothold for the future.

"It's fundamental for Defence Aerospace going forward."
