'Drugs den' sealed by court order

A house in Bristol which police say was being used a drugs den and a brothel has been closed by court order.

The closure order on 77 Greenhaven in Easton was made after police said visitors to the property had been causing distress to neighbours.

The house has been sealed off so that no-one else can use it.

It brings the number of such closures under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act in Bristol to 62, police said.

'Prostitution base'

The order was granted on Friday by a district judge at Bristol Magistrates' Court.

Insp Dave Huggins, from Trinity Road police station, said: "The anti-social behaviour caused by this property has been extensive and persistent.

"We have evidence showing that high numbers of people have been visiting the property day and night, visitors openly taking drugs and falling asleep in communal areas in what is sheltered housing provision, causing alarm and distress to other residents.

"Police were also made aware that the property was being used as a base for prostitution."
