Bus group to increase fare costs

Bus operator First has announced fare increases in and around Bristol.

The company plans to bring in an average increase of 6% from September in a move which a spokesman attributed to increased fuel costs.

"This decision was not taken lightly. First Bristol, Somerset and Avon held back on reviewing fares for as long as possible," he said.

Fares in the Bath and Weston-super-Mare areas would also rise by 6%, the company said.
