Strong winds hit balloon fiesta

The 0600 BST launch was cancelled due to the weather

Strong winds have meant there will be no more ascents from the 30th Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.

On Sunday the 0600 BST launch was cancelled and organisers later said there would be no evening flights.

Event organiser Susan Tanner told BBC News the weather remained unsuitable for the balloons to take to the skies.

"There won't be a launch this evening and we are not able to tether. It's been so gusty with very strong gusts and more showers so it's not sensible."

She added: "Still, we've managed two flights out and a night glow and we've had tethered balloons on several occasions, but it was a great event anyway and we've just enjoyed a fabulous display by The Red Arrows."
