City road sealed off during siege

Armed police surrounded a house in Bristol following reports that there were people inside with weapons.

Stapleton Road was sealed off between Lansdown Road and Walton Street on Saturday morning.

After a prolonged stand-off, officers managed to get inside the building only to find it empty.

Officers said they had no reason to doubt their witness, so it is believed the alleged perpetrators escaped out the back of the building.
