Man's £20,000 bet claim not valid

Ladbrokes have told Roy Thomas he has not won £20,000 bet

A man who thought he had won £20,000 on a football bet has been told that his bet doesn't count.

Roy Thomas, from Bristol, said he specified Manchester United would win three trophies but Ladbrokes insist the bet was for "the treble".

Ladbrokes say "the treble" is three out of four of the big competition cups and does not include the Community Shield.

Mr Thomas is making an official complaint but Ladbrokes say they have a recording of the telephone bet.

Roy Thomas said: " I've been betting since I was old enough to go into a bookies. This is the first time I have ever had any real trouble."

Ladbrokes have offered him his £500 stake back and a £500 free bet but Mr Thomas is filing an official complaint with the Independent Betting Adjudication Service.
