999 police car collides with bike

A cyclist received minor injuries when he was in collision with a marked police car responding to an incident.

The police vehicle was turning left from Houlton Street into Newfoundland Way towards the M32 in Bristol when it struck the adult male cyclist.

A spokesman said police were keen to speak to a taxi driver who may have seen the cyclist before the collision.

Witnesses to the collision, which happened at 0216 BST on Saturday, are asked to contact police.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman, said: "The force's professional standards department will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"The male cyclist was taken to hospital although his injuries were not considered serious."

The road reopened at 0630 BST.
