Spate of tool thefts in suburbs

A series of thefts from vans in the Cadbury Heath, Kingswood and Yate areas of Bristol has taken place.

Most thefts happened overnight, often at the weekend, while the traders' vans were parked on driveways.

Insp Kevin Thatcher, of Avon and Somerset police, said: "In the past month we have had 45 reported thefts of tools and equipment from vans."

The tools stolen have been good quality brands with most vehicles being damaged to gain entry.
