Child death inquest is to resume

The inquest into the death of a six-year-old boy who died in a plunge from a hotel balcony with his father is due to resume at the end of March.

John Hogan, 33, from Bradley Stoke, near Bristol, was cleared of murder after leaping from a hotel balcony in Crete with his two children.

Son Liam, six, died from head injuries and daughter Mia, then aged two, broke several limbs in the fall in 2006.

The children's mother, Natasha, will attend the inquest on 26 March.

At a pre-inquest review on Thursday, Avon Coroner Paul Forrest confirmed a list of witnesses who are set to appear.

Mr Hogan will not attend and is currently in custody in Athens.

He was committed to a psychiatric unit for a minimum of three years at his trial.

A full transcript of that trial will be submitted as evidence to Liam's inquest, as well as Greek psychiatric reports on Mr Hogan, the coroner said.

The inquest into Liam's death was adjourned after his funeral in 2006.
