Builders fined over shop collapse
A building company has been fined £60,000 for breaching health and safety rules, after a shoe shop collapsed.

Laing O'Rourke was building flats in the Clifton area of Bristol but failed to construct a retaining wall in 2002 which led to the collapse.

Holbrook's shoe shop had traded for more than 80 years until it collapsed into a neighbouring building site.

A judge at the city's crown court imposed the fine on the company on Wednesday.

No-one was injured when parts of Holbrook's' premises fell in November 2002.

The family-run business was forced to move to new premises in nearby Henleaze following the accident.
