Actor and maths expert honoured
Tim Pigott-Smith as Richard Hale in the adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskells novel, 'North and South'.
Tim Pigott-Smith is a former student of the university
The actor and award-winning theatre director Tim Pigott-Smith have been honoured in a degree ceremony at the University of Bristol.

Mr Pigott-Smith, a graduate of the university, has been made a Doctor of Letters in recognition of his distinguished career in dramatic arts.

Dr Clifford Cocks, chief mathematician at GCHQ in Cheltenham, has also been honoured at the ceremony.

He was made Doctor of Science at the event in the Wills Building.
