Trains are delayed after landslip
Landslide at Alderton, South Gloucestershire
Delays and cancellations can be expected on the line, FGW said
Network Rail engineers are examining a second landslip in a week on the main line between Bristol Parkway and Swindon.

It happened near Alderton in South Gloucestershire and trains using the line now face speed restrictions.

A First Great Western (FGW) spokesman said passengers faced delays although both lines remained open.

A Network Rail spokeswoman added: "A 40mph limit has been imposed on the Paddington-bound track."

FGW said short notice alterations, cancellations and delays of up to 40 minutes could be expected.

Last week FGW services between London and south Wales were disrupted when 2,000 tonnes of rock and soil fell onto the track near Chipping Sodbury.

Track, foundations and signalling equipment needed to be replaced after the incident and stabilisation work was necessary to the bank.
