Library's future is under threat
About 600 people have signed a petition calling for a threatened Bristol library to stay open.

But the city council says Marksbury Road library in Bedminster is not used enough and is too expensive to run.

The possible closure is being considered as part of a council shake-up of library services across the city.

A spokesman said it was one of the city's least used branches as well as being one of the most expensive.

But one person who signed the petition told BBC News it was a vital community resource.

"It should be spruced up, not closed down," he said.
