An education officer has been appointed to explain the history of a Victorian cemetery in South Bristol to visitors and locals.
School parties will visit the site as part of the National Curriculum
Arnos Vale Cemetery in Brislington has more than 250,000 bodies buried in its 45-acre site.
Janine Marriott is the cemetery's first education officer.
She said: "We've got some really fascinating characters buried here to tell people about and there are also some important war graves."
School parties will visit the cemetery to hear about its wildlife, including bats and birds, as well as the parts played by famous local Victorian figures who are buried there.
In 2007, £4.8m of Heritage Lottery funding was secured to return the rundown site to its former glory.
