A jury in the trial of four men accused of shooting dead a teenager has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict against three of the accused.

Dean Myles, 19, and from London, was gunned down at a Jamaican dance night at Club UK, in Bristol, in September last year.

The four accused had always denied the murder charge.

After 43 hours of deliberations, the jury cleared Rico Walker, 26, but could not agree on the other three.

'Retrial sought'

Andrew Langdon, prosecuting, immediately told the court the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) would be seeking a retrial in the New Year against the trio.

They were remanded in custody and ordered to reappear at the same court on 17 December for a preliminary hearing

In the dock were Mr Walker, who was acquitted on Friday, and Ashley Pritchard, 18, both of no fixed abode, Jamie Veira, 20, and Matthew Radnedge, 20, both from the Easton area of Bristol.

Mr Myles regularly travelled to Bristol to visit his family.

He was shot at around 0400 BST and died at the scene from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

During the eight-week-long trial two members of the jury were discharged by the judge, Mr Justice Royce.

Discharging the jury, the judge told the jury they would be exempt from further jury service.
