People invited to sponsor a tree
People in Bristol are to be invited to sponsor a tree in an attempt to see an additional 10,000 trees planted in the city by 2015.

Posters showing a tree stake attached to a bare lamppost are to be put up in 10 locations around the city and will be posted through residents' doors.

The campaign by independent charity Trees for Cities follows a successful volunteer planting scheme in 2006.

An official planting day will be held on 13 February 2008 in Wiltmott Park.

The campaign will launch officially at the end of November 2007.
