Biodiesel boat arrives in harbour
Earthrace
The record attempt takes place next year
A boat powered by biodiesel has arrived in Bristol ahead of an attempt to break the record for powerboats travelling around the world.

The 24 metre-long craft, named Earthrace, is touring 50 European cities ahead of the attempt to promote awareness of alternative fuels.

Skipper Pete Bethune said there were two "beautiful" things about the boat. "The first is it runs on biodiesels.

"The second is it's a 'wave piercer' - key to us getting the record."

The present record is 75 days, set in 1998.
