'Successful' year in drugs battle
More than 50 people have been arrested and £450,000 worth of drugs seized during a year-long crackdown on drug dealing in south Bristol.

Police said a special "pro-active" team focusing on the Filwood area had carried out search warrants and stop checks in support of daily patrols.

Eight properties were closed down under the AntiSocial Behaviour Act.

Seven people were sentenced for drugs offences and more are awaiting sentencing or trial.

Several people remain on bail pending further inquiries.

Commitment to campaign

The vast majority of the drug seizures came from two raids in Knowle, when about £400,000 of cannabis was seized.

Three men were charged and convicted in connection with the seizures.

Inspector Jeff Foreman, Broadbury Road, said: "The Broadbury Road Proactive Team has had a very successful and productive year, carrying out over 60 warrants resulting in some excellent arrests and drug seizures. "We have taken drug dealers off the streets of south Bristol and closed down a number of properties which were causing misery to residents in the area."
