Festival bosses announce changes

A licensing hearing is due to be held on 28 June
Organisers of Bristol's Ashton Court Festival have announced restrictions on tickets this year.

The number of people being allowed in to the event is being cut from 40,000 to 30,000.

The festival site is also moving from the top fields to land next to the Mansion House.

The event is due to take place on 14 and 15 July, subject to the outcome of a licensing hearing which will be held on 28 June.

Organisers say the move to the new area will allow them to put up a fence and have better control over who is admitted.

The reduced numbers should create more space within the festival and prevent overcrowding.

Festival bosses have been struggling to recover from a £100,000 loss which followed a disappointing turn out and increased costs in 2006.

A fund-raising campaign was launched last December to help re-coup some of the losses and pay for this year's event.
