New graffiti planned for station
A large new mural is to be painted on the walls of Montpelier railway station, on Bristol's Severn Beach line.

The art is part of an overhaul planned for the station which has been targeted by graffiti artists in the past.

Work is due to begin on the mural on Sunday.

Local schools and businesses will also be helping with the revamp including repainting all areas of the station and re-establishing the station garden.

First Great Western station manager Mike Holmes said: "Rather than give the vandals a fresh new canvas to work on we have been working with a Bristol graffiti artist to develop a well-designed and credible piece of work with a strong local feel.

"We hope the initiative will re-establish the station's role in the community and if it proves successful we will consider rolling it out to other suitable stations in the First Great Western network."
