Funeral of man in missing mystery
Jeremy Smart
Mr Smart was found dead in his van at Sedgemoor Services
The funeral is taking place on Monday of a man whose disappearance sparked off a major missing persons alert and who was later found dead in his van.

Diabetic Jeremy Smart, 46, from Headley Park, Bristol, vanished on his way home from football practice on 25 March.

He was found dead at Sedgemoor Services in the early hours of 17 April.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious, but toxicological tests are being carried out after a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.

During his disappearance, his daughter Sophie, 17, made an appeal for her father to return home.

Ms Smart said it was possible her father felt he had become a burden to the family because of his diabetes, but stressed that nothing could be further from the truth.

The family said they would probably never fully understand what happened. The stonemason's funeral takes place at St Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol.
