A convicted murderer who absconded from an open prison near Bristol has been recaptured by British Transport Police at Glasgow Station.

Stanley Thomas Dunn, 59, originally from Plymouth, went missing from Leyhill Prison on Thursday morning while out on a work placement.

A nationally co-ordinated police operation and extensive enquiries led to his recapture, said police.

Dunn was convicted of murder in 1976 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

"He will now be returned to prison," said a police spokesman.
