Footballer suspended over punch
A footballer who punched another player during an FA cup game has been suspended by the Football Association (FA) from all activities.

Barrow defender James Cotterill appeared to strike Sean Rigg in the recent defeat by Bristol Rovers.

The FA has launched an inquiry, suspending Mr Cotterill for the duration, and Mr Rigg has also said he wants to press criminal charges.

The Rovers player was left with a double fracture of the jaw.

"We would like to send our best wishes to Sean for a speedy recovery and apologise to him and Bristol Rovers for the injury," said a Barrow statement.

"The club would like to emphasise that they deem violent conduct by any Barrow player totally unacceptable."
