City libraries get £1.3m makeover
A £1.3m refurbishment programme of six libraries in Bristol is due to begin.

The temporary closure of Henbury Library on 30 October marks the beginning of the work.

Bishopsworth, Clifton, Henbury, Henleaze, St George and Southmead libraries will all be revamped, says the city council.

Around £130,000 will be spent at Henbury on replacing windows and the installation of new security shutters. It will reopen in February 2007.

Councillor Simon Cook said: "We are determined to turn around the years of under-investment that have blighted this front line service and give people first class libraries to use and enjoy."
