A 30-year-old male pedestrian from the Bristol area has died after being hit by a car on the M32.

Emergency services were called to the motorway between Jct 1 of the M32 where it meets the M4 on Saturday night.

The man was taken to Frenchay Hospital but died from his injuries. He has not been named.

A police spokesman said the investigation into the man's death was at a "very early stage" and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The motorway was closed for five hours and reopened at 0500 BST on Sunday.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the man's death.
