The real men behind Bionic Maggot and Wrington Doughnut are sought
A search is under way for the real people behind fantastically-nicknamed Bristol dockers from the 1950s onwards.

Eighteen Months, Man in a Suitcase, Bionic Maggot and Wrington Doughnut were some of the names documented by the city's Industrial Museum.

Curator Andy King said: "We've got a list of about 300 of them that's been doing the rounds for years.

"The trouble is, we don't know the real names of these people, or what they looked like."

The list will be displayed at the museum's Docks Heritage Weekend on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September.

Visitors will be invited to identify them.

"We'd like people to come up with snapshots and names of their friends and relatives to match the nicknames, so that we can preserve this bit of social history for the future," said Mr King.
