Severe congestion has been reported on adjoining roads
One person died in an accident on the M4 in South Gloucestershire during Monday morning's rush hour.

A lorry travelling east collided with a car which crossed the central barrier. It hit a BMW going west head on and collided with another car, police said.

By 1600 BST the motorway had re-opened in both directions but lane three remains closed for barrier repairs.

Traffic is very heavy in the area and police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police.
