Plans have been unveiled for a new £18m museum in Bristol.
The current industrial museum in the city docks will be replaced with the new venue allowing more of the huge stock of exhibits to go on display.
Work is expected to begin in two year's time and the build is scheduled for completion by 2009.
Councillor Simon Cook said: "It will tell the story of this city from the period when it was first founded 1,000 years ago up to the present day."
