Graffiti is being removed from 25 spots in Keynsham at the start of a week-long campaign to clean up the town.
Police, local authorities and youth workers are joining forces to tackle problem areas and speak to young people who may be involved.
From Monday, police will be promoting a zero-tolerance message and work will start on removing existing graffiti.
Police said the campaign should help remind people that it was a criminal activity that would be prosecuted.
Inspector Tim Stuckes, based at Keynsham Police Station, said: "The week is not only about actively ridding the town of graffiti, but also targeting those responsible and educating people who may think that this sort of damage is 'cool'.
"People have to understand that graffiti is criminal damage and it is one of the most common problems that we and the council receive complaints about."
