Horfield £8m swimming pool opens

Darren Campbell will be guest of honour at the official opening

An £8m swimming pool and leisure centre complex opens in Bristol on Monday.

Work started two years ago to build Horfield Pool and Leisure Centre which has a 25-metre pool, a learner pool, a fitness suite, creche and café.

Olympic gold medallist sprinter Darren Campbell will be guest of honour at the official opening on 18 November.

Colleen Bevan, from Bristol City Council, said: "Horfield Pool and Leisure Centre is a fantastic new sports facility."

Over the weekend tours of the sports facility were available, in addition to a fun and fitness programme.

Ms Bevan said: "The centre's opening marks another significant step forward in the council's swimming strategy and demonstrates the council's continued commitment to providing first-class swim and sports facilities for everyone to enjoy."
