Email scam names tsunami victims
Mike and Carol Hall
Mr and Mrs Hall were killed in the Asian tsunami disaster
Bogus lawyers are using the deaths of a British couple in the Asian tsunami as the basis of an internet fraud.

Mike and Carol Hall of Chew Magna, near Bristol, died in the disaster in the far east last December.

Emails sent out at random claim the middle-aged couple left 10 million US dollars (5m).

The email encourages people to pretend to be a relative to claim the money, and then split it with the lawyers, say Avon and Somerset Police.

The recipients are asked to send a fee to the "lawyers" as an initial gesture of goodwill.

Chrissie Bryant of Bristol Trading Standards said: "This is one of the most cruel and desperate scams that I have seen."

Police say the emails have been received as far away as Australia.

They advise people to ignore and delete such unsolicited emails.
