Swimming pool closure protest due

Families opposed to the closure of Speedwell swimming pool are due to protest outside Bristol City Council.

Campaigners say if a newer boiler is needed the equipment could be transferred from Shirehampton pool - which has now closed.

Councillor Noreen Daniels (Lab) who opposes the closure said: "If the Lib Dems close down the pool I can assure you they will regret it."

A final decision on the future of the pool is due to be made on 29 September.

The council has asked for people to make their feelings known before that meeting.
